Pasta Maker Job at Kennebunkport Resort Collection
Via Sophia by the Sea is looking for an ambitious Pasta Maker to assist in the preparation of all pasta made in-house. You will additionally perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
- Maintaining par-levels of pasta, for backup stock as well as on kitchen stations
- Responsible for creating different kinds of pasta according to Via Sophia recipes and standards
- Consistently checks the pasta products and adjusts methods to achieve high-quality pasta
- Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a prep cook or pasta maker
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Ability to operate machineries such as a mixer and pasta machine
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- A knowledge of Italian cuisine preferred
- A high school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
