PART-TIME and CASUAL Security Officers (Multiple Openings Available) Job at Value Drug Company
Position Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for providing for the security and safety of the interior and exterior work environment at Value Distribution Center (VDC) and other facilities. The Security Officer will work to ensure the safety of company assets, including property, buildings, employees and visitors.
**Our security team coverage is 24/7. Team members need to be able to work shifts as needed.**
Essential Functions
- Perform interior and exterior security patrols on VDC properties to provide a secure and safe work environment.
- Investigate and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, and safety and fire hazards, as well as other security related situations.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Assist employees and visitors as needed.
- Provide security at on and off-site company events as needed.
- Sound alarms and ensure proper company and emergency authorities are notified as needed.
- Monitor entrances and exits and permit authorized persons and vehicles to enter or leave property.
- Observe activities to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate requirements.
- Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned equipment.
- Operate and monitor CCTV, Access Control System, Biometrics, Duress/Panic Alarms, Burglar and Fire Alarm Systems as applicable to multiple sites.
- Monitor and track cargo with shared intelligence and tracking systems.
- Prepare Safety Inspections/Daily Activity Reports as directed.
- Assist in other security/department/company duties as needed.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and professional standards, as well as company and industry policies and procedures.
Work Environment
This position operates in both indoor and outdoor settings, making rounds throughout the property and buildings. May involve working in quiet or noisy environments, as well as warm and cold environments. The Security Officer receives periodic supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time, use hands and fingers to operate doors and locks, a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer or office equipment, visual acuity to read documents, signs, and computer screens. May require awkward positions, running and periodic lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility.
Travel
Minimal work-related travel is required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of two years’ experience with Military Police, Law Enforcement and/or security
Demonstrated security program experience with understanding of physical, security, safety, risk management, special events, investigations, access control, alarm and CCTV systems as well as visitor management systems.
Understanding of evidence preservation
Knowledge of equipment and inventory accountability
Requires valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation
CPR/AED/First Aid
Training in martial arts and/or close protective services
Preferred Education and Experience
Associate Degree in Criminal Justice
Four years of security/military/law enforcement work
Security Clearance/Background Check
Pass comprehensive background checks and drug screen.
