The City of Fort Atkinson is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Parks/Aquatic Caretaker. This position will involve a wide variety of maintenance tasks with a daily emphasis in parks maintenance (ballfield, restroom, shelter preparation). This position will require the ability to assist in operating the Aquatic Center and its annual maintenance in the Aquatic Specialist’s absence, tree planting and forestry maintenance, aerating and slit-seeding turf areas, landscaping, and painting. Occasional snow removal, concrete/blacktop work, and basic carpentry/repair skills are features of this position.
Qualifications required include working knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, and practices used in parks and building maintenance. The ability to operate a tractor, skidsteer, endloader, backhoe, jetter, mowers, dump truck, and other mechanical equipment is preferred. A Certified Pool Operator certification is required or the ability to obtain in 10 months of hire.
2023 starting wage of this position is $22.0509/hour. The City of Fort Atkinson offers an excellent benefits package. Starting employees receive 80 hours of vacation (prorated from the start date), 10 holidays, sick days, and 2 personal days. An employee in this position is also eligible for comp time and overtime opportunities. The City is a part of the Wisconsin Retirement System (6.8% employee, 6.8% City), which is considered among the best in the country, and also offers health, life, dental, vision insurance, and deferred compensation.
