Painter I Job at Hogan Regional Center
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic professional for our Painter I vacancy located at the Hogan Regional Center in Danvers. The incumbent of this position is responsible for all of the painting needs of the facility, including preparing different types of surfaces for painting, maintaining the paint supply to properly address touch ups and minor repairs within the facility and maintaining the aesthetics of the facility as they pertain to painting.
Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meets daily with supervisors for planning of current and future assignments.
- Prepare surface for painting or stain.
- Select types and colors of paint, varnish or stains.
- Responsible for all painting and staining requirements at the facility.
- Meets with staff to determine color selection.
- Mix, blend and prepare paints for proper color match
- Erect staging and scaffolding
- Apply paint, varnish and/or stain to all types of surfaces
- Removes damaged sheet rock and make repairs maintaining color, and surface uniformity, and overall aesthetically pleasing appearance.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of all painting supplies and purchases stock from Lowes and Home Depot.
- Replace window caulking and glazing and replace broken glass windows with Lexan as well as wire glass.
- Responsible for cleaning up work areas and setting up safety barriers when required prior to performing any task.
- Must blend in touch up paint jobs so that color uniformity is maintained.
- Performs all duties assigned by the supervisory team.
- Follows all policies and procedures of the facility.
- Reviews and completes and submits all CAMIS work orders in a timely manner.
- Required to use facility issued equipment to communicate during work hours.
- Must wear safety equipment and hi viz clothing supplied by the facility.
- Operates scissor lifts and aerial lifts per MEWP 3A and 313 A92.24.
- Perform all duties assigned by supervisor as part of storm management response team.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain drivers license and certifications to operate equipment
- Must be able to work with hand tools including but not limited to the following: Hammers, chisels, putty knife, razor knife, trowels, hawks, taping knives, T-squares, speed squares and framing squares, levels, plumb bobs, chalk lines, hand saws, rasps, planes, paint line markers. Wrenches, screwdrivers and other hand tools synonymous with the painting and carpentry trade.
- Must be able to set up and safely work on staging including step and extension ladders.
- Must be able to safely operate power tools both electric and pneumatic. Including but not limited to; table saws, screw guns, drills, reciprocating saws, nail guns, circular saws, routers, and planners, jack hammers, chipping guns, caulking guns, orbital and palm sanders.
- Operate snow removal equipment such as John Deere tractors, snow blowers, plow trucks with sanders, and larger pieces of equipment if properly licensed by Ma. Dept. Of Public Safety.

ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT. Listed salary ranges are for one full year at current rates.
Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in painting work, or (B) the substitution below.
Substitutions:
I. A diploma or certificate from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school at the high school level or higher with a major in painting may be substituted for the required experience.
Special Requirements:
Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Rigger's License issued by the Department of Labor and Industries (Division of Industrial Safety) may be required.
