Philadelphia Macaroni Company has immediate openings for Packaging Workers to join our Packaging department at our Spokane, WA pasta manufacturing facility.

The schedule for these positions is 12 hours/day, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m OR 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Job Summary

Packs products as required by customer and company specifications. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions of the productions areas

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Takes guidance regarding daily tasks from machine operator to ensure that goals for packaging department are met each day.
  • Packs product per CLF parameter sheets.
  • Keeps work area clean and free of debris
  • Pre-stages materials needed for packing the shift in neat and orderly fashion in areas defined.
  • Identifies waste streams and contacts supervisor for remedy and immediate action.
  • Executes Quality Assurance paperwork as defined.
  • Executes changeovers per the parameter sheets to include proper screens, totes, and liners as needed.
  • Executes changeover sanitation
  • Collects and reviews paperwork before turning in to supervisor.
  • Ensures correct product is dispensed into correct container.
  • Performs shutdown sanitation duties as required.
  • Gains an understanding of how machinery works and can identify issues and assist in troubleshooting but does not make repairs or adjustments.
  • Float as needed as needed to cover palletizer and/or egg dumping positions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing environment required
  • 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing (factory setting) environment preferred
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents, and do basic math such as averages
  • Ability to communicate, read and write in English in order to understand and follow company policies, GMP, Food Safety, OHSA Safety regulations
  • Ability to perform all above tasks in an environment of 90 degrees F or greater up to 80% of the shift or greater than 100 degrees F for 30 minute intervals
  • Ability to perform the above tasks in an environment of up to 35% Relative Humidity
  • Must have physical ability and strength to perform assigned tasks
  • Required to lift and/or carry up to 55 pounds
  • While performing the duties of the job, employees are regularly required to stand, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel, push / pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms 2/3’s of the time
  • Be able to perform lockout / tag out procedures on equipment once trained
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes that occur on the production line
  • Must be able to communicate and work in a team environment
  • Must be able to work some weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for up to 12 hours
