Job Summary:
PIC Group is seeking an Outside Operator for a 1300 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant location in Minooka, IL. The Outside Operator will report to the Operations Manager be responsible for plant operations, inspection, maintenance, and overall plant support services. The Outside Operator is vital to the operations of the Plant and ensures safe start-up, operations, and balance of plant equipment. Excellent opportunity to work with an experienced and dynamic group of operators at a state-of-the-art facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Documents and troubleshoot to resolve technical issues discovered on shift.
• Supports the Control Room Operators in the proper operation of the plant with minimal guidance or assistance.
• Communicates plant issues and keeps Control Room Operators fully informed of plant operations, unusual conditions, and faulty equipment.
• Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, repair, replacement, removal or installation of plant equipment and systems.
• Recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, and plant management.
• Assuring that all major and minor auxiliary equipment are operating properly.
• Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance
• Develops and implements plant operating procedures
• May provide instruction and training to personnel as needed
• Follows all safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance that include Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, and Electrical Safety

Job Requirements:

• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly.
• Strong operational and mechanical understanding of power plant equipment.
• Knowledge in the overall layout and operations of power plants.
• Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.
• Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
• Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
• The ability to read and understand plant programs, policies, procedures, and instructions specific to the associated Operations & Maintenance Agreement.
• Knowledge of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of the purpose and proper use of the plant safety equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions.
• Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.

Physical Requirements:

• Duties require walking, standing for extended periods of time, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, and lifting and carrying (up to 20 lbs).
• Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• The frequent use of protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, etc.) may be required.

Education / Experience:

• Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years Combined Cycle Power plant experience
• General Electric Frame 7F combustion turbine experience preferred, not required
