Responsibilities


Job Summary

The Orthopedic Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and maintenance of the care continuum for orthopedic patients The Orthopedic Program Coordinator provides, leadership for all aspects of the continuum of care beginning before surgery through one year postop; including Pre Admission Testing, Peri-op Services, Inpatient, and all other applicable entities within the Orthopedic Service Line related evidence-based practice for orthopedic patients. Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of program goals and operations. Coordinates and oversees the ongoing disease-specific certification process to continually care for the orthopedic patient population.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with recognized standards of care for TJC DSC application, intra-cycle review, and recertification, as well as, any changes in reporting parameters.
  • Develops and implements short and long range goals and objectives to provide quality orthopedic services
  • Develops partnership s with other healthcare providers, acting as a resource, and facilitator to enhance the program's market share
  • Educates nursing and ancillary staff to best practices in the treatment of orthopedic patients.
  • Participates in the care of orthopedic patients to maintain skills and identify barriers and needs 2.2 Participates in orthopedic rounds and team meetings
  • Monitors trend variances in orthopedic care and actively seeks tactics to reduce length of stay, reduce cost per patient day, and improve patient outcomes in collaboration with the medical staff, nursing, administration, and other applicable departments. Facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical practice guidelines, clinical pathways, and standardized order sets
  • Act as a resource internally and in the community regarding educating others about orthopedics.
  • Improves the care of orthopedic patients through facilitation and coordination of preventative care programs
  • Improves the care of orthopedic patients through facilitation and coordination of community education programs
  • Ensures the appropriate patient education materials are developed, distributed, and documented
  • Assists and recommends protocols and guidelines for best practice treatment of orthopedic patients across the continuum
  • Facilitates in conjunction with the program's Medical Director and Orthopedic/Neuroscience Director, program meetings through the preparation of the agenda and minutes

Qualifications

Minimum:
  • Minimum of three (3) years acute care
  • Graduate of accredited nursing school or Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy
  • AZ State RN or PT license
  • Current American Heart Association BLS

Preferred:

  • Five (5) years experience; including experience with The Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification Process for orthopedic
  • BSN and current O.N.C. Certification for nursing staff, or Master's degree in Physical Therapy
