SUMMARY: The Operations Manager will coordinate and oversea the activities of all Operational functions, such as: directing Operation Supervisors, Dock Leads, and other frontline team members to ensure optimal customer satisfaction. To be successful, the Operations Manager will approach their area of business using an analytical mindset, diplomacy, and tact. Operations Manager must ensure all
work is performed per company approved procedures, standards, and specifications. Leadership must always provide a clean safe environment for all personnel, and visiting customers while maintaining high levels of service.

- Assumes direct ownership of all functions, tasks, and duties related to the operation of assigned location
- Strategic assignment of onsite management staff to maximize efficiency resulting in minimal unload times and optimal customer service levels
- Ensure docks are maintained including cleanliness and safety
- Use internal systems to organize, track, and monitor unloading information, i.e. unload times, unloader names, unloader attendance, and billing
- Interact and problem solve with Warehouse Customers, Carrier/Truck Driver Customers and the company Call Center team members
- Leads by example, including: training and development of new and existing team members to reach operational performance goals and expectations
- Takes the lead and be the face of customer service across all interactions and areas of the business
- Takes ownership and responsibility for overseeing proper documenting, reporting, and processing damage occurrences and injury claims per company policies
- Ensure operational effectiveness up to and including: Assisting in unloading trucks when necessary, assisting in breaking-down loads as necessary, resource shifting to other departments or locations, and truck/bill management from start to finish enforcement of all policies and procedures implemented by Universal Chain, Inc.
- Any other requests or assignments communicated by upper management
- Open attitude with the ability to work varying schedules, including potential nights weekends or whatever is going to support company success
- Maintains a level of engagement and awareness of operations, even during offsite hours
- Maintains a hands-on and highly engaged approach with team members and customers
- Responsible for reviewing, ensuring accuracy, and completing weekly Payroll items by assigned deadlines
- Maintains a strong knowledge of UC service offerings, and consistently looks for new ways to expand business services among our current and future customers
- Takes ownership and responsibility on planning and executing UC business projects and initiatives as they arise
OTHER DUTIES include the following:
- Oversees and ensures Operations Supervisors are following pre-shift equipment checklist and subsequent procedures
- Trench worker, willing and ready to work in other locations, travel team, etc. as business needs dictate
- Organizes work in a structured and well planned manner, for themselves and the team
- Leads by example, actively develops new leaders, motivates and helps set the team up for success
- Attends or facilitates meetings, including safety, leadership, and team meetings on a regular and consistent basis
- Runs applicable reports, and reviews with team and individual team members regularly
- Performs monthly coaching or one-on-ones with Supervisors and warehouse administrative staff
- Communicates operational status effectively throughout the shift with the Operations Director and customer
- Keeps up with and corrects attendance errors using time and labor programs
- Takes personal accountability for Scorecard KPI’s and makes timely changes to adjust operational challenges to meet business objectives
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Results oriented, high achiever, and performer
- Strives for maximum customer service levels
- Ability lead and work with others within a cohesive team
- Exceptional communicator internally and with our customers
- Must have a positive attitude, remain flexible, and adaptable at all times
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid pallet jack certification
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 1 year of UChain experience, highly preferred
- 1 year of previous exposure with Microsoft Suite, i.e. Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Minimum of 3 years of Electric Pallet Jack experience, highly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a warehouse environment
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and warehouse safety procedures
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required

- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to continuously bend, pull, and walk
- Ability to get on and off the electric pallet and/or forklift, as needed
- Ability to manage stress so it’s not outwardly displayed or projected on the team
- Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced environment with close proximity to other people
- Ability to work in cold and/or dry environment, or any combination of both throughout the shift
- Ability to effectively manage multiple operations at one time, with varying roles, responsibilities, and duties
