POSITION PURPOSE:
The Rail Operations Manager manages the day-today operations of the train yard, crews and cars to ensure safe, reliable, and mechanical performance of trains.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Actual tasks that technician perform include maintenance and tenant support.
Oversee technicians who are also responsible for on-board repairs and shop work. Staging cars, safety responsibilities, switching of equipment (when needed) and maintaining overall performance and appearance of rail equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Candidate must have some railroad experience along with mechanical aptitude and/or ability
- Ensures timely train operations to achieve service goals and ensures high quality customer service.
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the industry/railroad acitivities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Directly supervises mechanical and maintenance vendors. Work with Director of Sales, Marketing and Entertainment to meet service goals.
- Monitors train movements and conditions affecting train movements, determines and applies corrective actions when needed.
- Provides sensible, effective and fact-based train movement decisions in accordance with safety, train performance, and customer service goals.
- Presents to supervisors a clear and detailed daily record of train movement events before and after said movement.
- Determines appropriate actions to sustain alternate service in the case of service interruptions with the Terminal Railroad Association or Amtrak.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
