We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Operating Room Aide to join the Mountainside Team!
What You’ll Do
The Operating Room Aide is responsible for the turnover of rooms in the surgical suite, and assists in preparation of surgical cases under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Turnover includes cleaning the Operating Room. The Operating Room Aide assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care as a team member in order to achieve established outcomes.
- Clean rooms in between surgical cases in accordance with hospital policy including equipment before it is removed from the OR
- Maintaining the general cleanliness of the department including sub sterile and scrub sink areas, as well as emptying trash throughout the day in lounge.
- Responsible for restocking warmers with blankets and sterile saline with expiration date while rotating stock
- Responsible for putting away general supplies when delivered from store room and restocking surgical packs from the storage room
- Return equipment to proper storage area after a surgical procedure
- Prepare OR table for next procedure under the direction of the RN based on the type of procedure
- Collect and deliver specimens to the lab throughout the day and as directed according to hospital specimen handling policy
- Assist in the transfer of patients to and from the OR table and assists in positioning as directed by the RN professional or physician
- Assist the OR team in transporting patients to and from the operating room as needed
- Responsible for unpacking and restocking OR general supplies when delivered including: oxygen and other gas tanks, blanket warmers, cleaning supplies, and OR core supplies as directed
- Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 100 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day
- Complete incident reports
- Adhere to the standards identified in the hospitals organizational competencies and regulatory agencies that include but are not limited to the Department of Health and The Joint Commission
- Perform any and all other duties assigned
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year experience in an hospital setting; OR setting preferred
