Open Gym Attendant Job at Dundee Township Park District

The Open Gym Attendant works under the direction of the Facility Manager. The Open Gym Attendant will be responsible for the supervision of patrons and enforcement of rules and regulations in the Randall Oaks or Rakow Gymnasium during Open Gym Hours. Work is performed in accordance with a prescribed program and established procedures with some opportunity for the exercise of independent judgment. The position of Open Gym Attendant is an "at will" position.

TASKS YOU WILL DO

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitors gym at all times.
  • Keeps accurate attendance for all open gym days including ensuring all participants are wearing wristbands.
  • Greets all participants and keeps open line of communication with each.
  • Familiarizes participants of gym rules and regulations.
  • Holds patrons accountable when not following gym rules.
  • Performs set-up and clean up responsibilities for the programs.
  • Communicates times of open gym and make sure participants are out of the gym at the end of the program.
  • Provides first aid supplies to participants injured during activity. Completes accident/incident reports in their entirety and submits within 24 hours of the incidents.
  • Demonstrates and supports District branding and customer service standards.
  • Maintains a game wait list when gym is busy.
  • Informs manager or supervisor of participation numbers.
  • Communicates with the Facility Manager on a regular basis to keep an update on programs and any issues that arise during open gym days.
  • Wear the required uniform in order to be clearly identified as a District employee.
  • Participates in regular in-service training sessions.
  • Complies with all safety and loss prevention policies.
  • Inform supervisor of any unsafe conditions or hazardous work procedures.
  • Correct any unsafe conditions, if possible, and instruct co-workers on safety procedures.

  • Reports any work-related injuries to supervisor promptly.
  • Immediately reports all accidents and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Attends all required safety program and in-service education meetings.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions, if possible, alerts co-workers to potential unsafe conditions and/or reports them to supervisor.
  • Instructs co-workers, when necessary, on safety procedures or precautions.

SKILLS YOU NEED

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must possess background and knowledge of sports to ensure fair play.
  • CPR certification required or willingness to obtain certification within 3 months of employment.
