On-Call Security Guard Job at Paradise Valley Estates
Paradise Valley Estates (PVE) is an 80 acre, premier life plan community located in the foothills of Napa Valley in Fairfield, California. Founded originally as a military community, PVE has evolved to include all members of the community but the military heritage and values of Honor, Authenticity, Collaboration and Service still exist.
Paradise Valley Estates is currently seeking On Call Security Officers. The Security Officer performs a variety of tasks which include patrolling buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and provide a safe and secure environment for the residents. The chosen candidate will share PVE’s vision and values to be an excellent cultural fit.
Job Responsibilities and Competencies:
- Periodically tours building and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and not tampered with
- Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, escorts them off site, or telephones police for assistance according to circumstances
- Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of lights, heating, plumbing, or electrical systems
- Checks cars for parking authorization decals and determines if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as near fire hydrants, in driveways, ambulance entrance, or reserved parking
- Escorts personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as necessary
- Keeps a log of major events during shift. Ensures all non-PVE registered vehicles are logged in
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident information
- Ensures that residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to register a complaint, are maintained at all times
- Responds to emergency calls to assist the nurse. Must carry the e-call bag and oxygen to all emergency calls. Must complete an incident report immediately after
- Must have a working knowledge and skills to operate basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- May be called upon to serve as an incident commander during evacuations and other emergencies
- Must attend all scheduled training classes
- May be required to perform Receptionist duties
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Possession of a Guard Card is preferred
- Valid First Aid/CPR card is preferred
- Must possess a valid California drivers’ license
- Experience as a fireman, policeman, military personnel, or prior security experience is desirable.
