Position Summary

Create and post content to social media, organize and provide weekly rosters, create weekly newsletter, operate trading post, and deliver camper mail. Uphold all policy, procedures, and safety standards for the wellbeing of staff and campers. Be an active participant in campers’ experience and camp programming. This seasonal full-time position is needed at Camp Alice Chester in East Troy, WI from May 2023 through August 2023.

Compensation

Weekly rate of pay is $470.00.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the camp’s business communications.
  • Create and compile camp rosters and reports weekly.
  • Take pictures and upload photos to external communication platform (Rallyhood).
  • Ensure good communications with parents and staff through the camp newsletter and prompt attention to phone calls, faxes, mail, etc.
  • Complete invoices, and track budget expenses.
  • Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff trainings.
  • Coordinate late arrivals and early pick up of campers
  • Assist in driving and shopping.
  • Organize and deliver supplies to intended program areas.
  • Ensure all paperwork and forms are organized and accessible, including rosters, trip paperwork, etc.
  • Assist in the daily check-in and check-out of day camp campers.
  • Ability to assist with running day camp when/if needed.
  • Coordinate camp newsletter and communication to parents.
  • Coordinate ordering and other purchasing as necessary.
  • Ability to adjust quickly when scheduled activities need to change and/or are no longer able to be done.
  • Collect all camp inventories at the end of summer.
  • Assist with opening and closing of camp for the season.
  • Participate in the upkeep and cleaning of camp and units.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and creative.
  • Comprehend, monitor and be willing to initiate crisis management plan and overall safety guidelines, including emergency procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Who You Are & Keys to Success

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • First Aid/CPR preferred or willingness to be trained.
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license for at least one year. Valid driver’s license, compliance with the council’s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council’s business auto insurance carrier.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
  • Comfort and ability to live, sleep, and work in a rustic outdoor environment with irregular hours preferred.
  • Uphold and respect camp and Girl Scout traditions.
  • Must have background check completed by GSWISE.
  • Comfort and ability to live, sleep, and work in a rustic outdoor environment with irregular hours.
  • Physical demands and work environment regularly requires the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs.

  • Effectively and respectfully communicate instructions, issues, and needs with campers, staff, and supervisors.
  • Uphold and respect camp and Girl Scout traditions.
