As an Occupational Therapist 1, you will adhere to department policies regarding timeframe, form and content of written evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries. To help achieve our mission, you will communicate effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts while completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit. Demonstrating essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols while performing re-evaluations, according to department guidelines, and adjusting the treatment plan as needed is of vital importance. Selecting evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and physical/emotional status of patients while formulating appropriate treatment plans is required.

- Documents evaluation results clearly and completely according to department policy.
- Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
- Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
- Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' level of understanding and motivation.
- Demonstrates essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols. Performs re-evaluations according to department guidelines – adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
- Showcases current knowledge of the application of therapeutic techniques and evaluation methods.
- Assumes complete responsibility over the course of Occupational Therapy patient management from the time of initial contact to discharge for functional progress, safety and treatment outcomes.
Requirements:
Experience: New graduate occupational therapist (Prefer 1-year of experience)
Education: B.S. in Occupational Therapy - masters preferred
Licensure: Licensure: VA License required
Certification: Certification: BLS through American Heart Association (AHA)
Special Skills: Basic computer knowledge, proficient in English verbal and written skill
