Occupational Health & Safety Specialist, Full-Time, Lehigh Valley, PA

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will design, implement and evaluate comprehensive health and safety programs to maintain and enhance health, improve safety and increase productivity across our corporate and manufacturing facilities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides Industrial Athletic Training services and compliance for the following domains: Prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses; Recognition, evaluation and assessment of occupational injuries and illnesses; Immediate and emergency care of occupational injuries and illness; Treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning of occupational injuries and illnesses; Organization and administration of occupational athletic training programs, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee athletic training rooms, day to day operations of AT personnel and AT department related goals.
  • Manages restricted duty actives and implements work hardening progressions when needed. Provides medical treatment/opinion on work related injuries. The OH&SS will work in partnership with our panel of physicians to ensure the medical treatment the employee is receiving is appropriate for the condition. The OH&SS will act as Crayola’s case manager for work-related injuries and also provide first aid and direct care for work-related injuries.
  • Assist with OSHA recordkeeping regulations by maintaining OSHA logs and completing the necessary documentation/audits for submission to the various agencies. Ensures compliance with state worker’s compensation regulations by completing required state forms. Manages HIPAA medical recordkeeping. Oversee information systems and prepares reporting for occupational health records, workers’ compensation, ergonomics, and medical emergencies.
  • Participate in ergonomic/injury, OSHA recordable related incident investigations and support safety initiatives as necessary.
  • Performs ergonomic assessments. Conducts ergonomic evaluations on all job classifications and provide recommendations on improvements where needed. The OH&SS will provide support for ergonomic teams across facilities.
  • Supports the emergency response plans and provides CPR, First Aid, and BBP training using nationally recognized training programs. Orders and maintains medical supplies for first responders and Athletic Training services.
  • Maintain, coordinates and administers written blood-borne pathogens plan and AED program as well as other medically necessary programs
  • Create employee education campaigns to support employee overall health and safety.
  • Oversee information systems and prepares reporting for occupational health records, workers’ compensation, ergonomics, and medical emergencies.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • BS in occupational health related field required; COHN certification, Athletic Training, or other occupational health certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Occupational Health Professional/Athletic Trainer.
  • Experience in manufacturing setting or similar preferred
  • Strong analytical and math skills required.
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Must have the ability to work alone with minimum supervision/direction.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be available to work across three shifts as required
