. The Nutritionist Assistant position is a full-time state position with excellent benefits providing basic WIC nutritional services to Chesterfield Health District serving Chesterfield, Colonial Heights and Powhatan. Under the guidance of a Nuritionist and/or Nutritionist Associate, obtains health and diet information from clients and provides low risk nurition education according to protocols developed by Nutritionist. Independently schedules WIC appointments, maintians WIC records, compiles WIC reports, secures and verifies information needed for WIC income eligibility determination. Instructs clients about program guidelines and assists with WIC draft distribution.
This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the WIC Grant for a period ending September 30, 2023. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant funds

Minimum Qualifications
Ability to interview clients and collect information; interpret, document calculate & compile routine data; provide patient education. Knowledge and skills with computers and software, i.e. Crossroads, internal webmail, Microsoft Office. Must be able to communicate with a variety of patients and work effectively as a member of a health care team.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from high school with additional training or coursework in dietetics, food services, or a related field. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) preferred. Some experience in food production or in a nutrition program is preferred.
Special Requirements
All personnel of the Chesterfield Health District must have an evaluation of their immunization status within the first 10 days of employment.
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check and E-Verify. The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment, if applicable (VA Code § 2.2-3114). Other financial, credit, driving, or other background checks prior to employment may be required for certain positions.
