This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties:

  • This position is open to all service areas of GRAND Mental Health
  • Assess clients' nutritional and health needs
  • Counsel clients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits
  • Develop meal and nutrition plans, taking clients' preferences and budgets into account
  • Evaluate and monitor the effects of nutrition plans and practices and make changes as needed
  • Promote healthy lifestyles by speaking to individuals and groups about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases
  • Create educational materials about healthy food choices and lifestyle
  • Keep up with or contribute to the latest food and nutritional science research
  • Concurrently document in the electronic medical record
  • Disseminate nutrition education and information within the Agency
  • Maintain a high level of communication
  • Provide direct client care through telehealth or in-person appointments with clients
  • Manage and maintain schedule to meet productivity and client needs
  • Effectively utilize technology in fulfillment of job duties
  • Collaborate with clinical and medical teams for Integrated Care
  • Case Manage client case load for continuity of care
  • Remain fluid in approach to in-person, group, and telehealth avenues, as appropriate
  • Be a positive team player and contribute to shared goals for the position / department
  • Attend all required meetings
  • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences, dietetics, food management, community health, health education and promotion, or a baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate degree including a minimum of 24 semester hours from the fields of human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management, or an equivalent major course of study approved by the Oklahoma Advisory Committee on Dietetic Registration is required.
  • An expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders.
  • Certification, or willingness to become certified upon hire: Certified Case Manager through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services
  • Certification, or willingness to become certified upon hire: Certified Wellness Coach through the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychiatric diagnoses and their relationship to nutritional interventions.
  • Skill in planning and organizing nutritional programs; in the following oral and written directions; in maintaining therapeutic relationships with clients and their caregivers or legal guardians; and in maintaining effective working relationships with other treatment and administrative personnel.
  • Good knowledge of nutritional and dietetic interventions.
  • Good knowledge of human development.
  • Good knowledge of nutrition and food-related facilities, services and practitioners in the local community.
  • Ability to develop strong professional relationships with practitioners and other service providers in the local community.
  • General knowledge of the theories, principals, and process of case management, individuals, marital and family counseling and psychotherapy.
  • General knowledge of social work and/or psychology and of current social and economic problems.
