Nursery Check In/Childcare Worker Job at Rancho Community Church and School
Supervisor: Nursery Supervisor
Classification: Non-exempt
Description: Under the supervision of the Children's Ministry Director and/or Nursery Supervisor, the Check In/Nursery/Childcare Worker is responsible for overseeing the needs, care and safety of children within their care.
Spiritual Qualifications:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is modeled for the children, parents and other staff
- Seeks to grow in that relationship with Christ
Essential Requirements:
- Oversee the needs, care and safety of children in the Nursery area. This includes:
- Playing and caring for children (ages 0-12) in a fast paced environment which may include bending over, sitting, crawling and running.
- Ability to handle and manipulate small and large items with dexterity on a regular basis (such as twisting open locks on cabinets, gates, cups and bottles. This includes pinching and pulling items such as diapers).
- Ability to lift and carry children up to 60 lbs. (This includes holding/carrying children for extended periods of time and/or lifting them over items such as gates and barriers)
- Be comfortable using a computer and necessary devices
- Keep phone, text and email communications responsive on a weekly basis
- Enjoy children and desire for them to know of God's love and concern for their lives
- Shows a warm and welcoming attitude towards children, parents and co-workers
- Able to be flexible and creatively problem solve in complex situations
- Able to work quickly and responsibly in an ever-changing environment
- Able to keep confidential information that is private and personal in nature
- Successfully pass Live Scan criminal background check prior to hire
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Obtain certificate of negative result for TB screening prior to hire
Responsibilities:
- Set up and tear down of check in stations and equipment
- Knowledge of check in and check out procedures
- Care for the safety and spiritual, physical and mental well-being of the children
- Cheerfully greet/dismiss/ check in/check out of children and parents at check-in and check-out time
- Lead assigned daily activities with children
- Communicate effectively and respectfully, both orally and in writing, with parents and coworkers
- Care for, sanitize and return all equipment to its proper place
- Clean and maintain bathrooms, nursery rooms and other areas used for childcare.
- Report any necessary repairs to Nursery Coordinator and/or Children's Ministry Director
- Read the Nursery handbook in its entirety and have a working knowledge of its contents
- Stay in constant communication with Nursery Supervisor and Children's Director regarding children's needs and parent communications.
Other Expectations:
- Actively and collaboratively participate as a member of the Nursery team
- Possess a positive, fun and outgoing attitude with children
- Work well with others (be a team player)
- Act quickly and exercise independent, mature judgment
- Be faithful in attendance, arriving at or before the time scheduled by the Supervisor
- Participate in at least two pre-arranged meetings every 12 months
- Work special events when necessary, including working Sundays and holidays such as, but not limited to VBS, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas Eve, etc.
- Perform all other essential duties not itemized here.
