SUMMARY:
The MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANIC repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or Material Handling Equipment and their hydraulic systems. Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirements for this position include a High School Diploma or equivalent GED plus a minimum of three (3) years general vehicle maintenance experience. ASE Certification, a valid Georgia CDL A or B Driver’s License and ability to maintain military gate pass access are required.

Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members. Ability to write reports. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, fellow employees, and customers. Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.

Must be able to read and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift more than 75 pounds. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Work environment will require on-call rotation. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, heat, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices, such as masks, goggles, and/or gloves.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in diesel mechanics and related vehicle systems such as air conditioning, electrical and brakes
- ASE Certification
- Must be experienced in Refueling Pumping Systems Maintenance, and Fire Truck Pumping Systems Maintenance
- Experience in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Able to work weekends on a rotating schedule
- Experience using the latest diagnostic equipment (Scan Tool, etc.)
- Experience using Tire removal/installation equipment and tire balancing equipment
- Must provide own General Mechanic tool set
