We're looking for a career-minded individual to take over full responsibility for our Mortgage and Equity Loans / Lines underwriting. The credit union will provide ongoing training and support in the position, encouraging the employee's growth and development with the possibility of expanding into more senior lending and management positions over time.

The Mortgage Loan Underwriter will represent the financial interests of both our Members and the Credit Union and will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, underwriting and decisioning mortgage/HELOC and HELOAN loan requests, following all credit union policies and procedures, Federal and State rules and regulations, and Fannie Mae guidelines.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

• Review loan scenarios with Loan Originators for guidelines check.
• Review of Application documents for accuracy/completeness, and compliance including credit reports, income documentation, VOE and VOI forms, asset statements, other liabilities, HOI, and other documents as applicable.
• Request Mortgage Insurance as needed.
• Review and evaluate title & legal work, flood and lead certifications, appraisals, MI documentation, tax transcripts, EB Grant Funds etc.
• Review individual loan pricing (LLPA’s) for accuracy.
• Prepare loan write-ups (Form 1008) for internal review and sign-off.
• Ongoing research and training to ensure relevancy, accuracy, and compliance of all loans to Fannie Mae underwriting guidelines as well as compliance on all government guidelines.
• Ongoing research and training to ensure proficiency in the use of our lending platforms and systems.
• Conduct post-closing Loan File audits as requested.
• Coordinate secondary market loan sales to FHLB or LS and maintain a “sellable loans” list.
• Manage compliance audits from FHLB for all loans sold.
• Prepare and review quarterly FHLB reports.
• Facilitate internal Audits as they pertain to mortgages.
• Monitor the mortgage pipeline and ensure a timely turnaround on all applications received.
• Identify needs for, and assist in the development of, new mortgage loan products.
• Constantly develop greater knowledge in all areas of credit union operations.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Credit Union’s policies and procedures as well as regulations and compliance, both state and federal as they pertain to mortgage lending.
• Attend and participate in all required compliance training.
• Adhere to Credit Unions service standards and values and represent the Credit Union in a professional and friendly manner, both internally and within the community.
• Cross-train as back-up for other areas of the department as needed.
• Assist the VP of Lending in performing other duties and responsibilities as needed to ensure organizational success.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,040.00 - $74,440.00 per year
