We’re looking for a NorthAm Monitoring and Testing (M&T) Compliance Lead who will focus on developing and executing our compliance monitoring plan across Regulatory Risk and Financial Crime.

Based in New York, Austin, or Tampa, you will work closely with other regional M&T teams and Internal Audit to deliver an aligned assurance model. This means that Internal Audit and our Board will be able to place reliance on the accuracy and effectiveness of the compliance Monitoring and Testing program. You will review different areas of our business and interact with a growing team of multidisciplinary specialists (Product, Treasury, Banking, Operations)

You’ll help strengthen the compliance team’s approach to managing compliance risks by highlighting satisfactory control environments and also, by identifying control gaps or making recommendations for improvements.

Your mission:
Collaborate with other regional M&T teams and Internal Audit on aligned assurance planning, methodology and review execution that is consistent for all markets and products
Lead risk based regional Monitoring and Testing planning in line with our Group methodology covering Financial Crime and Regulatory Risk. Develop and oversee the execution of our compliance testing and monitoring programs and Target Operating Model.

Empower and support team leads to design control testing plans using data insights and evaluate compliance with rules and regulations – map the regulatory requirements independently and review the design and operating effectiveness of our controls.

Build and lead a team that delivers great results. Recognise and celebrate exceptional performance. Support and coach team members with their reviews and help unblock any obstacles they might come across.
Build consistency across our regional teams – from initial review scoping, through to testing, issues rating and reporting. Ensure that quality checks take place.

You are able to proactively communicate solutions to address control gaps at Board level and Empower teams to build risk based processes which are clearly documented.

Take a problem-solving approach, whether designing a new process to be implemented or driving an effort for multiple teams to work together to remediate control gaps.

Work with teams to educate them about risk and controls, aligned assurance and our monitoring and testing program.

Design and work with teams to implement and maintain automated reporting on issues linked to risks, that enables the compliance officers, the leadership team and our Board to make informed decisions.

Adapt your focus on different compliance reviews depending on compliance needs and growth plans.

This role will give you the opportunity to:
Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s business and get to know many teams across the company as you liaise with them throughout the M&T lifecycle.

Help keep compliance informed of the compliance control health and be at the heart of our controls improvements and new initiatives by helping to monitor and test compliance with rules and regulations.

A bit about you:

A background in banking and financial technology services will be a plus as well as experience in payments regulation, great communication and organisational skills, tons of motivation and positivity. More specifically, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate they have these attributes:

Theory. You are an expert in regulatory and financial crime compliance having a background in Financial Regulation, as well as a thorough understanding of risk and controls. You have a depth of understanding across multiple regulatory topics (for example complaints, safeguarding, BSA/AML regulations).

Practice. You have worked in Monitoring & Testing or Audit roles and are familiar with controls testing and remediation programs. You have demonstrable experience in mapping controls and designing and challenging processes, ideally across multiple products. You have led and inspired teams in the past.
Passion. You get a kick out of improving current practices and processes and have the drive to apply different compliance strategies to remediate control gaps.

Get the job done. You have a sense of urgency and an ability to work well under pressure, prioritising, taking responsibility and working to tight deadlines.

Communication. You’re a strong relationship builder across all levels of the business and externally. You lead by example and can demonstrate the Wise values.

Travel. The role is office based, but many of our teams are located across different office locations. You’ll be ready to travel to meet your objectives, as a guideline roughly once every two months.
