The Metal Model Maker Role
The Metal Model Maker is responsible for fabricating prototype stamping and automotive build and assembly metal products, such as framework or shells for machinery, metal component parts for automotive and consumer goods according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints. Develops layout and plans sequence of operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- 1-2 years previous in sheet metal or exhibit the aptitude for being trained into the position.
- The ability to use basic measurement equipment (i.e. calipers, micrometers and other equipment as necessary).
- Have the ability to lift 30lbs
- Have the ability to communicate effectively.
Position Responsibilities:
- Plans, layouts, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, and assembling.
- Set up and operation of fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
- Shapes metal material over anvil, block, or other form, using hand tools.
- Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooth's surfaces, using hand tools and portable power tools.
- Qualify details in supportive framework according to blueprints, using hand tools, power tools, and lifting and handling devices.
- Inspects details for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, scales, gauges, and micrometers.
Work Environment
Work is performed mostly in a manufacturing and or factory setting. Individuals will be regularly exposed to noise and moving mechanical parts.
