Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilizes medication variance reporting tools and prepares trending reports on medication safety events and adverse events for discussion at the Medication Safety Subcommittee
- Monitors the external environment for safety signals regarding medications utilized by MGB patients
- Identifies problem prone or high-risk areas to target for performance improvement
- Manages the system medication safety alert and recall/withdrawal process
- Manages the system Medication Safety Committee (sub-Committee of Pharmacy & Therapeutics)
- Develops and revises system medication safety-related policies, guidelines, and protocols

- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- PharmD (or equivalent) with ability to obtain license in state of Massachusetts
- Completion of ASHP accredited residency; fellowship; or advanced degree Experience related to principles of medication use safety, culture of safety, medication error reporting systems, human factors, performance improvement and risk management
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory environment
- Knowledge or experience with evidence-based, cost-effective practice in areas related to pharmacy
- Quantitative and analytic skills to support strategic decision making
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable pharmacy and formulary collaboration across MGB enterprise
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
- Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization
- Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization
- Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal
- Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly
Other Responsibilities and Working Conditions:
- No direct reports; may indirectly provide leadership and guidance to less seasoned and new staff
- No direct budgetary responsibility
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham resources
- Possible local travel to Mass General Brigham sites
