Summary
The Medical Director of School Health Urgent Care will work as an innovative physician leader to coordinate and lead our pediatric school health urgent care telemedicine providers, with a focus on managing provider staffing, optimization, and clinical workflow. In addition, the Medical Director of School Health Urgent Care, as a member of the clinical team, will provide direct patient care via telemedicine to schools. Occasional travel (when COVID restrictions have been lifted) will be necessary. Will work closely with the Medical Director of School Health Behavioral Health and Director of Operations of School Health to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to students and their families in the school setting.
Description
- 30 hours per week dedicated to direct patient care and 10 hours per week for the responsibilities below. Note initially, with low patient volumes, all 40 hours maybe “scheduled” for direct patient care and administrative tasks will be included in that time.
- Recruit, hire, and train a team of pediatric telemedicine providers to deliver school health urgent care
- Partners with School Health leadership to develop and implement a training of school health urgent care providers that includes instruction on FERPA, school policies, and aspects of care that are unique to School Health
- Meet and liaison regularly with VP of Clinical Integration and School Health leadership to optimize pediatric urgent care telemedicine clinical operations as reflected in short wait times, timely chart completion, quality care, and high levels of satisfaction by schools, nurses, and patients.
- Meet and liaison similarly with appropriate leads and nursing staff of schools
- Works closely with the quality and safety departments to ensure quality and safety for School Health Urgent Care
- Partner with guidelines team to create comprehensive and regularly updated School Health Urgent Care guidelines
- Contributes thought leadership to generation of School Health Urgent Care dashboard metrics
- Together with telemedicine regional leads, coordinates and manages the schedule of any providers that are both serving as general urgent care telemedicine and school health providers.
- Performs regular chart review and feedback to providers regarding School Health Urgent Care visits
- Contributes to the expansion and development of School Health Services
- Attends national and local meetings as representative of PM Pediatrics School Health
- May participate on national and local committees as representative from PM Pediatrics School Health
- May attend various meetings in the acquisition of PM School Health district acquisitions
- Use previous experiences and contacts to promote and engage school districts in acquisition of school contracts
- Oversees the policies set forth by PM Pediatric School Health and aligns them with district policies as necessary
- Works closely with the Behavioral Health Director and Operations Director for PM Pediatrics School Health
- Works with and participates on various PM Pediatrics teams such as informatics, telehealth, marketing and follows quality and safety guidelines providing reports as needed
- Reports to the Director of Telemedicine with a dotted line to the VP of Clinical Integration
Qualifications
Requirements:
- M.D./ D.O. degree
- Board-certified in pediatrics
- Prior pediatric telemedicine and leadership experience a must
- Prior school-based healthcare experience strongly preferred
- Prior pediatric clinical experience a must, pediatric urgent care or emergency department experience preferred
- Experience with provider staffing and training
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Experience being metrics driven as it relates to quality benchmarks, productivity, and patient satisfaction
- Efficient time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Team-Worker: Ability to work well and communicate with others while maintaining a positive attitude
- Ability to travel and be available for the pertinent committees, appearances and school visits as needed
