Medical Assistant River Family Clinic/Full Time Days Job at River Hospital

Job Purpose
The Medical Assistant implements nursing care activities under the direction of the Nurse Manager. Performs initial health screening on the patients who come to the clinic for healthcare. Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with patients, family members, significant others and other members of the health care team. They perform task and duties within the scope for their license and is supervised by the clinic Nurse Managers.
- Completion of accredited program for Medical Assistants
- Knowledge of record keeping and report writing techniques.
- Ability to organize and carry out new programs and procedures.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft platforms: Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
It is the employee’s responsibility to know the requirements for certification, limited permit and licensure for their individual profession. It is also the responsibility of the employee to notify the employer of the status of any certification or licensure issue or potential issue. The employee will comply with all of the requirements outlined by the New York State Office of Professions for the particular profession.
Working Conditions
- Environmentally controlled medical office environment.
- Fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations.
- Work hours subject to office needs to ensure coverage during all hours of operation.
- May wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves or a mask.
- Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, grasping, carrying and speaking.- Occasional reaching, bending and stooping.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed.
- May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled, with assistance if needed.
- Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copy and fax machine and phone.
