The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) is a modern manufacturing facility that occupies a 17-acre site at the Philadelphia Navy Yard with more than 750,000 square feet of industrial and administrative floor space. NFPC employs a highly skilled and versatile workforce of engineers, trades people and support personnel who specialize in advanced engineering, castings, and precision machining.

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer in the Facility Engineering Branch is responsible for defining and supporting the technical aspects of operations at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Technical guidance for facilities projects (preparation of detail and installation of plans, specifications, studies, standards, reports, diagrams, tests and calculations) by performing both independent assessments as well as team-oriented analysis. This can include specification of materials and manufacturing tolerances and research and development of new manufacturing technologies that support propulsor manufacturing.
  • Perform cost estimates and tracking project funds, and schedule estimates and tracking NFPC and contractor performance to schedule.
  • Serve as Project engineer and as such be responsible for working with other engineering disciplines for all engineering aspects of an assigned project.
  • Acts as troubleshooter in identification and resolution of problems encountered during production or pre-production activities related to Facility Engineering.
  • Shall comply with all NFPC procedures for safety, fall protection and hazardous materials.
  • Shall assist in developing and implementing engineering process controls/techniques for continuous improvement of items withing facility engineering's responsibility.
  • Shall perform other tasks as required.

Qualifications Required for the Position

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Area of expertise should reside in Manufacturing, Mechanical or equivalent.

Security Clearance / Background Check required. Your candidacy is subject to approval and acceptance.
