Summary:
The role of Mechanical Engineer will be to work closely with Sales, Application Engineering, and other engineers to ensure the customer’s requirements are met. Responsibilities:
- Working out of Cooper Machinery’s TSI business located in Salina, KS the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the technical accuracy and quality of mechanical drawings, BOMs and delivery of all the client’s engineering needs.
- As a Mechanical Engineer in Cooper’s Engineering department and reporting to the Sr. Operations Engineering Manager, you will play a central role in engineering development, maintaining schedules, quality, client specifications, design drafting packages, and new approaches to streamline deliverables, as well as editing and reviewing various high-level content.
- You will also be responsible for supporting other internal clients, including Project Managers, Product Managers, Sales, Marketing and Application Engineering on various needs specific to gas compression projects.
- Must be familiar with the design requirements of reciprocating engine’s critical components such as Turbochargers, power pistons, power cylinders, cylinder liners, heads, crankshaft, bed and block and be able to determine critical to quality (CTQ’s) of each of these components
- Must be familiar with integral engine assemblies, including design, assembly process and manufacturing methods
- Must have a strong background on gas compression and combustion related to gas engines
- Must be able to create parametric casting/forging and machining 3D models and associative manufacturing drawings using the master model concept.
- Must be able to provide required inputs from model and drawing study to support FEA and CFD team to analyze and improve current designs including detailing the required boundary conditions.
- Implement appropriate ASME standards on manufacturing drawings/models and apply correct GD&T per ASME Y14.5M standard.
- Must be familiar with engineering functions within TeamCenter and SAP, including material master and BOM creation, checking and approval processes.
- Must have a strong understanding of industry standards and ASME Code knowledge
- Must possess excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong technical presentation skills
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
