Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring that the facilities, layout and machinery used to produce new and existing materials and goods run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical and electrical equipment. Includes people management and assists with budgetary/cost reporting.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the entire maintenance program including industrial mechanics, industrial electricians, and shop assistants.
  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Coordinates work performed by outside contractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Develops maintenance procedures and schedules for all maintenance staff.
  • Maintains logs on all maintenance work orders submitted to ensure completion.
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly in a safe and timely manner.
  • Works closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to carry out inspections of company facilities and follow all safety compliances.
  • Provides technical training to various managers and machine operators.
  • Must be able to physically perform tasks alongside Maintenance Technicians when help is needed.
  • Conducts performance evaluations in a constructive and timely manner.
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program.
  • Communicates with various levels of management and production staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Education, Training or Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Maintenance or Manufacturing Management is preferred.
  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Will consider candidates with a combination of education, experience, and training that provides knowledge for this position.
  • Management or Supervisory experience is required.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 completion is preferred.
  • Experience with wood fire or biofuel boilers is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate projects to appropriate personnel.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment

Employees must be able to cope with Iowa climates; endure heat and cold conditions in the building. Fast-paced workloads and loud noise levels are normal. Paint fumes and exposure to chemicals associated may be present. Personal Protective Equipment as required by OSHA will be provided by the Company.
