Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
- Plan and determine optimal utilization of manufacturing team members and equipment to meet manufacturing goals.
- Ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality standards and targets are met.
- Co-ordinate manufacturing with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other departments, as well as with vendors and shippers.
- Ensure that customer, statutory, standards, and internal requirements are met or exceeded.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate manufacturing team members; monitor team members to ensure they are engaged in their role and meet performance and safety requirements.
- Analyze manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; work with the site Lean Promotions Leader to identify and utilize methods of making manufacturing process more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean).
- Determine if new manufacturing machinery, methods or processes are needed.
- Work with all leaders to implement the company's goals and policies.
- Lead motivate and develop the manufacturing team members.
- Instill and maintain a site-wide “People and Performance Culture” where all team members are focused on driving improvements to the business including people performance, product innovation/enhancement, internal processes and practices, and delivering on the BWIS Customer Trust Experience.
- Work with site Operational Excellence Leader and colleagues across BWIS locations to establish excellence standards, quality systems, metrics, visual communications, and best practices to execute efficiently and consistently.
- Identify opportunities to improve Operational performance and reduce cost, develop plans, and lead projects/activities to realise savings and improvements.
- Implement the “BW Way” business system through effective communication, ongoing training and consistent execution.
Skills and Competencies:
- Lean manufacturing and lean transformation experience.
- Strong operational and business acumen.
- Solid technical understanding and competence – experience in engineering, and/or working with automated equipment and products and capacity to understand technical processes and products, desired – not required.
- Ability to lead coach, develop and inspire team members and achieve results and success through others.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high social intelligence with the ability to build relationships and influence cross-functionally across all levels of leadership and frontline team members; able to gain trust and credibility easily and push back on leaders effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to develop and deliver impactful and effective presentations and training, and the skills to create visual management communications.
- Drives results - sets compelling goals and challenging schedules for improvement in all facets of Operations. Delivers always on commitments. Translates the Operations vision and strategy into practical, actionable, and quantifiable plans, and executes effectively. Makes timely decisions when a quick response is required and can make tough business decisions based on the facts of the case.
- Positive and competitive spirit and drive to win. Strong sense of initiative, internal motivation, and an unrelenting focus on results.
- Project management experience, strong organisational skills including planning and scheduling abilities.

Education/Experience:
- 7-10 years’ Manufacturing Leadership experience in a lean environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Management, Engineering, or relevant discipline (desirable).
ADA Requirements:
- Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for operation of a computer
- Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about regularly
- Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
- Noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
