Job description – Manufacturing Engineer

New England Wheels is a rapidly growing Mini Bus Manufacturing company located in Billerica MA. New England Wheels is currently looking for a full-time Manufacturing Engineer to work on its Frontrunner Mini Bus Project. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering and Director of Plant Operations, this person should be a quick learner and be ready to ensure the efficient operation of the facility. The manufacturing engineer will have responsibility for providing engineering support to the production, Quality Assurance and Customer Service Support groups. The manufacturing engineer will assist with implementation of lean manufacturing principles. The manufacturing engineer will be responsible for planning, organizing and successful installation of all components of the bus including electrical/electronic components, suspension components, AC, Structural components etc.

Responsibilities:

· Develop and maintain work instructions for the low floor bus assembly for production

· Develop manufacturing processes per product requirements

· Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve throughput

· Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout

· Work as a liaison between production and engineering to analyze issues on production line

· Review and calculate labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making

· Work on developing the inspection process for incoming materials

· Provide engineering support to Warranty/Service department

· Supervise the harness manufacturing in-house

· Electrical system integration and system troubleshooting

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering

· At least two years’ of work experience preferably in automotive manufacturing environment

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Experience with CAD design software Solidworks or Inventor a plus

· Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban and 5S

Salary is commensurate with experience.
