POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Managing Director works closely with members of the KIPP DC regional team to define and implement KIPP DC’s health, enrollment, and compliance strategy in alignment with Office of the State Superintendent of Education and Public Charter School Board and regulations. This individual will also support school team members to deliver a consistent and aligned family experience across all of these areas. The Managing Director is responsible for tracking progress to KIPP DC's overall enrollment targets and ensuring compliance with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education's enrollment policies. In addition, the Managing Director will set the vision and strategy and lead the coordination and development of non-instructional school - based team members including Office Managers, operations staff and health teams to align and unite the school - based staff members that support our families. This includes coordination and collaboration with the academic team, other leaders and stakeholders to ensure that the health enrollment and immunization teams are meeting KIPP DC’s needs. The Managing Director will directly manage Associate Directors and Director level employees. This role is exempt and will report to the Vice President of Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership and Management - 40%
- Lead a process to set vision, goals, and execution for the health, immunizations and enrollment team and manage towards them
- Ensure compliance with all OSSE and PCSB health, enrollment, immunization and testing rules and regulations
- Build and execute an ongoing cadence of training and development for school - based non - instructional teams
- Directly manage sub-team leaders and ensure collaboration across the sub-teams, including training and coordination of enrollment and immunization annual strategy
- Onboard new team members and set individual goals with and provide coaching and feedback
- Lead cross-functional initiatives uniting non - instructional school based teams, including professional development of all team members
- Step in to fill any needs identified by the compliance or health sub-teams, for example leading the onboarding and training process for a new initiative
- Unite the team to identify and work through areas of improvement and innovation
- Coach and develop associate director-level leaders to become effective managers and leaders
- Lead by example to create and reinforce positive and productive team culture
Collaboration with Other Leaders and Teams - 20%
- Collaborates with Finance, Operations, Data, Student Information and Academic teams on cross-functional processes and initiatives, including defining KIPP DC’s overall enrollment and immunization strategy, health strategies, etc
- Serve as the point of contact to coordinate with leaders on the executive team regarding enrollment and immunization progress and the academic team regularly meeting with school leaders to develop a strategic long term plan
- Connects with other health and enrollment leaders across KIPP’s national network as well as in Washington DC
- Ensure that senior leaders have the appropriate and necessary touch points and meeting structures with stakeholders to ensure effective execution of the enrollment, immunization and health strategy
Enrollment Strategy Development and Execution - 30%
- Consult with Finance and Academic teams on annual enrollment targets and update submissions through PCSB Hub
- Partner with Communications team on student recruitment strategies and completion of My School DC application setup
- Advise School Leaders on effective re enrollment campaigns, including high school transition
- Develop strategic approach to the My School DC lottery that ensures all open seats are filled by the deadline
- Create enrollment tracking system and report on progress to the Executive Team
LEA Test Integrity - 10%
- Train test integrity coordinators on the OSSE test integrity requirements
- Create Test Integrity plan for the LEA and submit to OSSE for approval
- Monitor test administration at all schools during Spring testing window
General Project Management - 10%
- Support and coordinate compliance and legal team projects as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- At least 10 years of work experience, with at least 7 years of previous people management experience required and previous experience working in a school system required
- Experience managing others and/or driving results through others required
- Experience with student enrollment preferred
- Experience managing relationships with external organizations required (e.g DOH, OSSE)
- Ability to manage stakeholders through change when faced with major strategic shifts
- Experience influencing and motivating individuals using a variety of mediums (presentations, speeches, 1:1 conversations, etc.) with a track record of uniting parties and increasing collaboration
- Strong understanding of current challenges, trends and strategies related to student enrollment and health in the current education environment preferred
- Experience leading a team with strong culture to meet ambitious goals
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve big picture problems
- Experience using data in sophisticated ways to monitor progress towards goals
- Outstanding project management and organizational skills, and extraordinary attention to detail
- Flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
- Deep commitment to racial and educational equity and the building of an organization that reflects the community KIPP DC serves; ability to hold self and others accountable for centering equity

KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package:
- The anticipated starting salary for this position is $123,246-$152,245. At KIPP DC we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector.
- KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical.
- KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.
- Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.
- As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for occasional flexibility. This role will have approximately 20% flexibility to work remotely.
