Duties and Responsibilities: • Coordinate technical training for faculty development as it relates to instructional topics.
  • Provide virtual pedagogical and instructional design consultation and support services to faculty and staff that assist in the effective delivery of instruction, with particular emphasis on use of technology in hybrid, online and face-to-face technology-enhanced courses.
  • Provide faculty with opportunities to enhance excellence in teaching, professional, and personal development as it applies to instructional technology.
  • Assume expert consultation role and provide design alternatives; apply state-of-the-art synchronous and asynchronous distance instructional design models to courses.
  • Assist in the development of instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools to assist faculty in course design.
  • Provide leadership to the CEIT by encouraging the regular growth of online and hybrid classes.
  • Demonstrate improvements related to the learning process through updated presentations, teaching strategies, and student learning models.
  • Provide technical instructional resources to faculty for course development, instructional design, and classroom practices.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal constituencies to strengthen the distance education program at SOWELA through research and comparison.
  • Assess instruction-related development needs as well as keep abreast of best practices in the learning environment.
  • Support ventures with deans and program coordinators for new online programs and courses as well as new instructional technologies.
  • Support and participate in the course review process for online and hybrid course development to help assure a consistent level of quality in course content delivery.
  • Serve as the eLearning coordinator for the school and Quality Matters Coordinator.
  • Supervise the Center for Excellence in Instructional Technology staff.
  • Coordinate activities in conjunction with Information Technology to maintain and update technology for the classroom.
  • Provide training and professional development as it pertains to online learning and technology.
  • Initiate personnel actions such as hiring, coaching, developing, evaluating, and disciplining. Prepare work schedules; assign or delegate responsibilities. Monitor payroll and time sheets. Set deadlines to ensure completion of the Instructional Technology tasks and projects.
  • Responsible for planning, controlling, communicating, and implementing procedures and processes for the overall efficient operations of the department or division.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education: • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, or closely related field.

Required Experience : • Five years’ part time teaching experience at a higher education level, preferably in a community college setting.
  • Direct or relevant work experience with distance education course design and delivery.

Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
