You will be able to lead and contribute in meaningful ways at our new greenfield McCalla, AL facility, where we will produce the very popular Uncrustables sandwiches and are also looking forward to development of new and innovative products.
The HSE Manager has responsibility for developing, implementing and administering the plant’s safety and environmental programs and policies.
In this role you will have the following responsibilities:
- Ensuring that an environment of continuous improvement is pursued in the development of health, safety, and environmental systems. This is done in a way that: (1) Meets Federal, State and Local laws and regulations, and Corporate standards for personnel, plant and environmental safety, (2) Builds technical and personal mastery, and (3) Uses proven tools such as Key Elements, Risk Prediction, Behavioral Observations and Daily Management System methodologies
- Delivers continuous improvement in site-wide Health, Safety, and Environmental areas that help maintain results
- Member of the Plant Leadership Team and are able to influence the plant’s direction in sustaining compliance with Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulations that pertain to specific site operations
- Lead the strategy and master plan for HSE for the McCalla site
- Manage and develop HSE department and direct reports
- Owner of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Pillar
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and administering safety and environmental programs at the site
- Have a working knowledge of all operating department processes and the hazards associated with all equipment and tasks
- Ensure plant safety and environmental inspections are executed, safety risks are being eliminated, and employees are following safe work practices
- Lead and serve as a training resource for the incident investigation process
- Coach departments on investigating and reporting work-related incidents, injuries, first-aids, and near misses
- Ensure investigations and follow-ups are complete
- Implement safety and environmental training
- Produces monthly reports for safety and environmental programs
- Serves as an emergency contact for environmental and safety emergencies
- Serves as the severe weather coordinator for the site
- Coordinates materials for the McCalla site audits related to safety and/or environmental standards and regulations
- Maintain all OSHA recordkeeping requirements and serves as the host for OSHA Compliance visits as well as own the OSHA Readiness Plan
- Other tasks as required

What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a safety and/or environmental role
- Previous manufacturing experience is required; food manufacturing experience is preferred
- Experience working with OSHA or environmental regulations
- Ability to establish and sustain relationships across the organization
- Ability to prioritize work in a high demand work environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours to best meet the needs of the business
- Excellent communication skills-oral and written
- Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others

- Computer literacy and proficiency in plant systems as well as Microsoft Office applications
