The Schuylkill Intermediate Unit #29 is looking to fill a Maintenance Supervisor position at the Maple Avenue Campus.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of electrical, construction, maintenance, plumbing and heating, and security. May possess alternating qualifications as the Board of Directors deems appropriate and acceptable.
  • Supervisory experience in the industrial or school environment in areas of planning, electrical, construction, plumbing and maintaining physical facilities is preferred.
  • Typing and computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all custodial staff and manages the daily operations of the Maintenance Department.
  • Organizes and performs a program of preventive maintenance.
  • Assists in the maintenance of buildings and grounds as to cleanliness, safety and mechanical functions.
  • Responsible for the operation of the emergency generator(s).
  • Responsible for the operation of all systems to provide the necessary heat, cooling, and hot water according to season, temperature, and demand.
  • Ensures that all driveways, parking areas, sidewalks, and steps are shoveled, plowed, and/or salted in such a manner as to ensure the safety of all staff, students, and general public.
  • Receives, stores, and issues all maintenance, grounds materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Conducts periodic inspection of all school facilities to ensure fire safety and works cooperatively with the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director in the execution of monthly fire drills.
  • Reviews security precautions and procedures on a regular basis and recommends additions and/or changes as necessary.
  • Communicates with the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director regarding building maintenance and facilities management issues.

  • Possesses current certifications, or becomes certified, in areas such as asbestos abatement, pesticides, and refrigerant transition and recovery as necessary/required.
  • Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention. Schedules and completes repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, equipment, and physical facility components to ensure continuous operations.
  • Secures tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Monitors health standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates programs to train employees on proper operation and maintenance of facilities/equipment, worksite safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for toxins, equipment, and other health and safety issues.
  • Assists with testing and servicing safety equipment and systems.
  • Primarily reports to one location, but management of/assistance with other sites may be required.
  • Maintains facility records and other necessary records as required.
  • Schedules work routines for department personnel.
  • Ensures that the department is appropriately staffed in case of absences.
  • Assists the Executive Director/Assistant Executive Director and Business Manager in preparing and administering budgets for maintenance, grounds, security, custodial supplies, and equipment.
  • Manages the purchase of program components and supplies, including obtaining vendors quotes, creating/entering requisitions in accounting software, collecting/organizing/coding monthly bills, and maintaining receipts and financial records.
  • Processes payments via credit card as needed, including verification of monthly charges and documentation of receipts.
  • Possesses or obtains knowledge of procurement/bidding process, account codes, and board policies.
  • Continuously projects and monitors expenditures and reviews flex reports, budget-to-actual reports, and other fiscal reports as necessary.
  • Reviews and approves all custodial staff timesheets, travel vouchers, absence requests, and any other employee requests/paperwork.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

  • The Maintenance Supervisor will be employed for twelve (12) months of the year. Salary and work schedule to be established by the Board of Directors.
