We can’t do what we do best – make our great-tasting sausage products – unless our equipment is running well and reliably. This is where you’ll do your part to make Johnsonville great, by keeping our machines, lines and facilities running. You and your maintenance teammates will be responsible for all production and industrial refrigeration equipment, as well as our electrical and controls systems. You’ll also work closely with our engineers and production members to make important upgrades to our production machinery, as innovate and grow our business.

Maintenance Manager


Position Overview:

This is an opportunity to help lead all aspects of the Maintenance Department on a journey to the Best in the World. The main function of this role is coaching facility maintenance members and maintenance processes. In addition –the Maintenance Coordinator will be involved in planning, directing, and driving continuous improvement of all our processes to help us become the Best Company in the World that just happens to make sausage. Core hours for this position will be 1st Shift with responsibility for 3 shifts of Maintenance members.


Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the safety of all Maintenance Members
  • Coaching all Maintenance Team Leaders through the development of personal and technical development plans
  • Drive the Maintenance Team to maximize equipment uptime
  • Responsible for asset management including maximizing utilization, replacement, upgrading, maintenance, and tracking utilizing SAP
  • Develop and maximize the use of the preventative maintenance (PM) and the work order system to maximize plant performance
  • Develop and maximize the use of the predictive maintenance tools (PdM)
  • Develop and instill a culture of teamwork, safety, innovation, and customer service within the maintenance area
  • Partner with Production, Shipping, and Sanitation to build joint ownership of the facility and equipment
  • Support the implementation of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodology and the tools that support this initiative
  • Provide leadership and coaching for the Maintenance Team Leaders and Maintenance Members
  • Drive the Maintenance Team to operate in Reliability Centered Maintenance process through the use of tools like RCA, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma Tools, etc.
  • Initiate world class maintenance strategies and innovative actions through the Maintenance Excellence Program that will ultimately lead us to be The Best in the World
  • Determine and maintain all maintenance accounts within budget
  • Pro-actively form, lead, participate and/or facilitate various teams designed to improve our quality and effectiveness of maintenance and production
  • Act as a back-up environmental resource and incident commander for the facility
  • Responsible for developing and installing continuous improvement programs throughout the maintenance area
  • Be a visionary and strategic planner for the Maintenance Team
  • Maximize the utilization of the skills of all Maintenance Members throughout the Company by perpetually communicating with the maintenance coordinators at the other facilities and sharing experiences
  • Ensure the success of planning and scheduling and inventory control functions of the maintenance team
  • Other opportunities / duties as assigned


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Engineering or related field preferred


Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years industrial maintenance experience required
  • A minimum of 5 years of strong demonstrated ability in coaching/leading people successfully


Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated self-growth and development of others to higher levels of responsibility
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and follow up skills
  • Candidate should be knowledgeable in regulatory compliance (Safety, USDA, and EPA)

Shift: Primarily hours will be 1st shift., (6:00 am to 3:00 pm, with flexibility to work other hours as necessary including weekends.
