Maintenance/Custodian Job at Freedom Classical Academy

We are looking for a responsible individual to maintain and protect our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises, as well as preventing vandalism. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian/maintenance role focused on building upkeep. They will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. A keen eye for detail and diligence are imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure classrooms are prepared for the next day by cleaning desks, chairs, windows, and taking out trash.
- Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
- Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
- Wipe mirrors and windows in all spaces
- Assist with set up/tear down of tables and chairs for group meetings.
- Assists in checking facilities for safety hazards and report any deficiencies
- Performance of facility maintenance such as light plumbing, changing of light ballasts, and bulbs, minor carpentry, painting, and other repairs assigned.
- Tracks maintenance repairs throughout property and conducts daily/weekly building walkthroughs.
- Responsible for grounds maintenance to include sweeping, landscaping and repairs.
- Report major damages to supervisor.
- Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors and gates.
- Help and assist with lunchroom cleanup.
- Cleaning spills or other messes.
Skills
- Proven experience as custodian, maintenance or in a similar role
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
- Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- High school diploma is preferred but not required
Schedule
- Flexibility is key. We are looking for Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
