JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose and Scope

Able to perform the duties of General Laborer with the additions of the following. Performs activities associated with the normal operation of equipment, controlling machine speed and feed, routine set-up/adjustments, quality of product produced, and replacing tooling/consumables related to daily production. Ensure the machine is producing at optimum production rates and the work area is kept neat and organized. Assists Machine Specialist with complex set-ups, machine maintenance and troubleshooting of new processes.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to the production, quality and safety expectations of the job and communicate to General Laborer support staff.
• Able to safely start up, adjust and shut down the machine according to standard operating procedures.
• Ensure materials are utilized efficiently with minimal scrap or waste.
• Assists Machine Specialist on new part set-up, troubleshooting and process/quality improvements.
• Assists Material Handlers with the movement of raw, work in process and finished materials. Perform Machine Operator level maintenance as described in Standard Operating Procedure.
• Use corporate ERP system to execute assigned jobs and record/report production data and outcomes
• May perform other duties as assigned

Reporting Relationships

The Machine Operator reports directly to the Production Supervisor. The Machine Operator does not have any direct reports but is expected to work in a productive team environment and provide guidance to General Laborer support staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Training

High school degree or GED preferred.

Previous experience working with industrial machinery producing products or in a manufacturing environment desired

Special Skills

Ability to communicate problems to the appropriate individual verbally and through written mediums

Cooperative attitude with the capability to work in teams to solve problems

Strong measuring skills using the English and metric measurement systems

Strong math skills specifically relating to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, conversions, and counting

Familiarity with reading blueprints and CAD drawings

Strong mechanical aptitude

Familiarity operating computers and scanning devices

Familiar with ERP and/or MES systems

Legible hand-writing and printing

Ability to adapt to new tasks and accept changes to work processes with a positive attitude

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand on concrete floors for 8-10 hours a day

Ability to lift 5-50 lbs repetitively 75 lbs occasionally

Must be able to bend, twist, push, pull, crouch, kneel, stoop and lift 90% of the work day

Must have full range of motion in both shoulders and hips

Use hands, fingers and wrists frequently

40 Hours per week Additional hours approved by Supervisor, shift schedules may vary based on production demand

Shifts

1st Shift – Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, if overtime worked shift starts at 5 AM.
