This position fabricates and works on structural metal products such as framework or shells for machinery, concrete construction equipment, and metal parts
Responsibilities:
Operate break press in addition to other fabricating machines such as rolls, shears, laser, and saw


Hammers & chips metal work-pieces from metal sheets

Grinds/sands metal work-pieces to remove imperfections

Identify work-pieces, tag and load onto appropriate cart

Verifies conformance of work-piece to specifications

Confers with department lead or supervisor to resolve fabrication problems


Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto work-piece


Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, laser, and saw


Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut or bend, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance fabricating, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required

Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data


Safely operate hoist

Safely operate lift table

Safely operate a forklift upon company certification

Pay careful attention and use care when handling machinery and equipment

Performs other duties that may be assigned

Regular and predictable attendance is required
Qualifications:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or a Metals Fabrication Certificate from a technical college or trade school; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.


Ability to perform basic addition and subtraction; Demonstrates ability to measure in feet, inches, and thousandths using tape measures and precision tools.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Ability to operate hand tools & air powered tools.


Ability to operate fabrication equipment i.e. brake, shear, laser, rollers, punch and saws.


Ability to operate hoist.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as well as stand on feet for 10 hours a day in a fast-paced environment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.


Employee may be exposed to various chemicals such as metal working fluid, brake fluid, parts washer, cleaners, etc.


Noise level in the environment is loud and hearing protection is required.


Compensation and Benefits:
  • Pay wage: $20/hr
  • Shift: Swing Shift- 3pm-1:30am ($2/hr swing shift differential)
