Machine Operator $17.50/hour and up

Position Summary

Responsible for and has the authority for setting up and operating HDPE, PET or Extrusion production lines, making necessary adjustments or minor mechanical repairs in a safe and efficient manner per qualification certification level.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety procedures and practice good housekeeping.

· Perform job duties in accordance to all written work instructions and procedures.

· Operate and maintain equipment and forklifts used to manufacture product at acceptable quality and throughput levels per control plan.

· Perform quality checks related to line operation.

· As needed utilize manufacturing data systems to perform basic shop floor functions.

· Respond to process control alarms, bringing processes back into control.

· Disposition non-conforming product according to established criteria.

• Coordinates the training sessions for all new hires in the department.
• Identifies opportunities for departmental improvement.
• Assists in change overs, productivity and scrap.
• Assists in training and mentoring as assigned.
• Participate in Plant meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

· Exposure to mechanical industry preferred.

• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Able to multitask in fast paced environment.
• Team Oriented.
• Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Self-motivated and flexible on job assignments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

· Lifting Requirements: 0 – 50+ lbs.

· Constant: Lift and/or move up to 15lbs., driving of forklift

· Frequent: Sit, stand and walk up to 12 hours per day. Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.

· Environment: Exposed to high levels of noise, recyclable debris and smell.

· Able to visually examine minute defects in parts and product.

· Must be able to reach overhead, crouch/squat, kneel, climb ladders and/or stairs.

· Must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment: eye, ear, head and toe protection and high visibility safety vest.
