LPN Clinic Nurse - Outpatient Clinic Job at Hiawatha Community Hospital
Amberwell Hiawatha is seeking a LPN to join our Outpatient Clinic.
BASIC FUNCTION:Schedule outpatient clinic patients, assist physician to provide patient care during physician clinics.
SHIFT DAYS/HOURS:
7:30am-5:00pm or until clinic is complete. Subject to change based on business necessity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduate of approved school of nursing with licensure as LPN in the state of Kansas.
Experience:At least 2 years of previous experience working in medical office or outpatient area. Some previous experience working with outpatient is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate with persons of various backgrounds in a tactful, courteous manner.
DUTIES:
1. Maintains telephone communications between physicians, physicians’ offices, patients and ancillary departments.
2. Maintains correct and continuous identification of all patients.
3. Assists with scheduling of patients for outreach and surgical clinics.
4. Receiving medication, laboratory and radiology orders from the outreach physicians.
5. Transferring orders from outpatient chart, clinic charts, schedules for each patient along with any laboratory or radiological results that may be needed for that visit.
6. Assisting the outreach clinic physician with procedures, telephone contact or requisitioning of additional ancillary needs.
7. Upon arrival of patients in to clinics all demographic and medical information is checked or rechecked with each patient.
8. Assures all appointments are confirmed with the physician’s office prior to clinic day.
9. Confirms all clinics on a monthly basis for a calendar to be sent to area physicians and the public.
CLERICAL DUTIES
10.Receive, greet and direct patients, visitors and hospital personnel providing accurate responses in a friendly and courteous manner.
11. Receives, places and transfers telephone calls using appropriate telephone etiquette. Records and communicates messages accurately.
12. Demonstrates understating of emergency procedures.
13. Assures appropriate supplies are available, and utilizes supplies and equipment efficiently with cost awareness.
14. Make up form packets for chart and maintain patient files.
15. Continual surveillance and proactive participation in ongoing Infection Prevention and Control measures in accordance with policies located in the Infection Control Manual on MCN.
16. Other duties as assigned.
17. Pre-op teaching and care for patients as necessary in outpatient clinic
