Job Summary:

New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) is a non-profit community development and social service agency which provides a range of services to more than 4,000 children and families each day. We have been preliminarily selected by the NJ Department of Children and Families to operate a new program designed to provide prevention programming and direct services to help address student mental health issues throughout Passaic County, and we are currently looking for staff to join this exciting new initiative.

The Supervising Prevention Consultant is responsible for planning and implementing programs in schools and communities.

Responsibilities:

• Establishing Alliances: The consultant will establish alliances with organizations which have similar or allied goals, such as school board, local law enforcement, healthcare providers, community centers, and service providers.
• Customer Service: The consultant will serve as a customer service role model to ensure a positive relationship in interactions with all participants, including schools and community members.
• Supervision: The consultant will provide supervision to a team of prevention specialists who will provide trainings and workshops to community and youth.
• Implementation of Evidence-Based Prevention Services: The consultant will implement evidence-based prevention services and curricula with fidelity.
• Program Planning and Implementation: The consultant will plan and implement programs in schools and communities that will empower at-risk youth and marginalized communities by conducting prevention education activities related to substance abuse, pregnancy prevention, mental health, and well-being.

Education and Experience:

• Master's degree in a related field (e.g., counseling, public administration, social work, etc.).
• At least five (5) years of experience working in social service environment implementing evidenced based practice models, three (3) years of which shall be in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience in community organizing, developing community partnerships, implementing evidence-based programs, and project management.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license, safe driving record, and vehicle availability are required
• Must pass NJ Child Abuse Record Information (CARI) screening, and a fingerprint-based background check

Physical Demands:

The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The Supervising Prevention Consultant may also be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

The Supervising Prevention Consultant will primarily work in an office environment and in school buildings but may be required to work in other settings as needed. The position may also require evening and weekend work to attend community events and meetings.
