Boeing Defense Space & Security’s Missile and Weapon Systems Organization is currently hiring for a Senior (Level-4) or Senior Lead (Level-5) Loads & Dynamics Structural Analysis Engineer to join us as part of our Cruise Missile Systems team located in St. Charles, MO.

The Cruise Missiles organization is a strong and growing business that produces long-range precision guided weapons which are employed around the world to support the defense of the United States and partner countries. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to work on the world’s most advanced variant of the combat-proven SLAM ER and Harpoon missile systems. The SLAM ER, Harpoon II Upgrade, and the Harpoon Coastal Defense System development programs are utilizing a Model Based Engineering approach to implement a new weapon system configuration and replace obsolete or uneconomical parts and subsystems to support production and improve future sustainment.

A Loads & Dynamics Engineer works as part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) and must have the ability to effectively communicate technical information and collaborate with engineers and leaders form a wide variety of engineering disciplines. The Senior/Senior Lead Engineer will lead a team who perform the following tasks:

  • Using NASTRAN/PATRAN or similar FEM software to perform structural analysis on missile body structure

  • Creating, manipulating or using data from finite element models

  • Programming in one or more of the following languages (C, C++, Fortran, Python, Matlab, etc.)

  • Developing loads, vibration, and shock requirements

  • Vibration, shock, or acoustic testing

  • Writing technical reports

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Guide product design and verify structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance

  • Generate structural loads using Boeing methodologies and develops loads cycle analysis tools to streamline loads generation and delivery

  • Perform vibe, shock, and modal analysis using finite element models built from solid CAD geometry

  • Develop test plans and configurations, support component vibe, shock, acoustic, and acceleration test execution, and analyze/report test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications

  • Create loads and dynamics reports

  • Participate in internal/external design reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), preliminary/critical design reviews (PDR/CDR) with government Customer and program leadership

  • Collaborate with engineers in other disciplines (structural design, loads/dynamics, mass properties, materials & properties, thermal analysis, aerodynamics, etc.)

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 5+ Years of Technical analysis experience (i.e. Structural, Thermal, Dynamics, etc.)

  • 5+ Years of experience with Finite Element Models (FEM) and tools (NASTRAN/PATRAN)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with loads, vibration, and shock requirements development

  • Experience with vibration, shock, or acoustic testing

  • Experience writing technical reports

Typical Education/Experience:

Senior (Level-4)

Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior Lead (Level-5)

Bachelor's degree typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range for Senior (Level-4): $115,600 – $156,400

Summary pay range for Senior Lead (Level-5): $136,850 – $185,150
