What You'll Be Doing
Wake County Public Libraries is looking for dedicated
full-time Library Assistants
who love working with the public!
Library Assistants spend the majority of their time on a busy service desk, providing excellent customer service to library patrons including checking books out, issuing library cards, helping members find books, and providing other services. Library Assistants provide reference, readers’ advisory and basic technology assistance to members, and support operational and programming efforts in the library.

Cary Regional Library, Adult Services
Northeast Regional Library, Adult Services
Eva H. Perry Regional Library, Youth Services
For positions with a remote work option, all Wake County Government remote workers must reside in one of the following states or districts: North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Maine.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Associate's degree
No specific experience required
Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Public library experience
Bookstore experience
Experience working with children (for Eva H. Perry Regional position)
Spanish-language skills

Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Is energetic, motivated, and takes initiative
Is detail-oriented, flexible, and adaptable to change
Has great technology skills (ex. Internet, MS Office (Word, Excel), Google Docs) and learns new technologies quickly
Loves books and reading; good working knowledge of reading trends and popular titles for adults and youth and has the ability to recommend titles and author
About This Position
Location: Northeast Regional Library Raleigh, NC 27587
Employment Type: Regular
Work Schedule: 40 hrs, combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours
Hiring Range: $18.20 - $21.41
