Foundation for Blind Children (FBC) is a high profile, nationally recognized non-profit in Phoenix, Arizona. The role of the Large Print Technician is under supervision from the Operations Manager and working as a member of the Library/Media Center team, performs a variety of large print and/or Braille production activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Scan print materials into digital files and archive for master production either for large print or Braille.
  • Produce and bind large print materials from master digital files.
  • Produce e-file versions of print books.
  • Maintains appropriate records of work orders from clients.
  • Responsible for maintenance of production and binding equipment.
  • Responsible for maintenance of large print recreational library collection.
  • Responsible for monitoring mail traffic and maintaining mail metering equipment.
  • Perform a variety of duties in the production, duplication and binding of Braille materials.
  • Assist with Media Center function performed by others on as needed basis.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Good typing skills.
  • Knowledge of office procedures.
  • Ability to work well with others, interact with volunteers.
  • Arizona fingerprint clearance card or the ability to obtain within 90 days.

Working conditions

  • Works in a traditional climate controlled office environment

Physical requirements

  • Lifting/Pushing/Pulling:
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to use a calculator, telephone, enter information on the computer and be able to read numbers and reports.
  • Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action
  • Must be able to use all office equipment
  • Inside and outside environmental conditions, works in an office as well as outside
