POSITION: Kitchen Assistant

PAY RANGE: starting pay $15.00/hour; hourly non-exempt; Temp

JOB OVERVIEW:

The prep cook handles most of the prep for all ingrediants going into dishes during service. This position often works under little supervisiion, so you must be able to follow recipes and be well-versed in a variety of food prodcuts and techniques. The quality of the prep work is instrumental in the quality oof the finished product, so attention to detail is paramount.

Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygenic. Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately. Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients. Washing, peelig, chopping, cutting and cooking food and helping prepare salads and desserts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Excellent food preparation and cooking techniques
• Ability to use and maintain various stovetops and meat slicers
• Ability to decorate and garnish food
• Ability to wash, peel and cut vegetables
• Ability to prepare a wide range of kitchen ingredients
• Basic knowledge of table service
• Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety standards
• Attention to detail and interpersonal skills

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Previous kitchen work experience
• Sound knowledge of food service
• Physically fit and able to stand for entire shifts
• Ability to work under pressure and part of a team
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Time management and organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift and maneuver a minimum of 40 pounds
• Must be able to push or pull a minimum of 5 to 60 pounds
• Must be able to walk or stand for 100% of assigned shifts
