Responsibilities:
- Review bid specifications/blueprints
- Perform quantity takeoffs for projects that are being estimated
- Perform similar takeoffs on projects that are under contract for the purpose of determining pay quantities or plan changes
- Assist in bid preparation, including but not limited to, contacting sub-contractors and suppliers on key issues including scopes of work and project scheduling
- Recording bid tabulations
- Attend pre-bid meetings and pre-construction meetings as needed
- Assist in picking up plans for bidding or delivering bids at appropriate time and place as needed
- Perform job site inspections for estimates and bids when warranted
- Assist in reviewing new projects posted for bidding
- Assist in generating and develop bids or leads
- Assist in organizing and preparing pre-bid packages, securing plans, specs, addendums, etc.
- Assist in developing subcontractor bid lists
- Attend bid openings and pre-construction meetings when warranted
Education and Experience:
- 0-2 years in highway construction-related field
- College degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (willing to train a new graduate)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of Excel
- Possess Organizational skill to manage multiple requests and communicate with multiple project managers
- Accurate and able to meet deadlines
- Communicate and correspond with owners, engineers and vendors in a professional and courteous manner
