JOB SUMMARY:
The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures, and electrical control systems in accordance with safety codes.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education: High School plus 2 years
Related Experience: 3 years
Supervision Given: None
Supervision Received: Master Electrician
Essential Specific Job Duties:
1. Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
2. Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause and to correct the problem.
3. Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components in a safe manner.
4. Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustments or repairs ensuring compliance with codes.
5. Tests electrical systems/wiring and continuity of circuits in electrical apparatus using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, etc. ensuring compatibility and safety of the system.
6. Installs ground leads and connects power cables to equipment as needed.
7. Uses a variety of tools such as power tools, hand tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment.
8. Repairs or replaces wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand and power tools.
9. Works safely from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
10. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, and installs electrical conduit.
11. Places conduit inside designated partitions, walls or other concealed areas and pulls insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
12. Constructs and fabricates parts according to specifications using hand tools.
13. Maintains the work area and tools in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
14. Completes pertinent documentation i.e., production reports, safety reports, etc. in a thorough and accurate manner.
15. Adheres to quality and safety standards.
