Mud Bay is looking for an experienced IT Program Manager. We are seeking a motivated self-starter who enjoys leading the charge of managing technology solutions at Mud Bay. This role will own a portfolio of business software applications used at Mud Bay in addition to directing ongoing improvements and enhancements to these applications. The IT Program Manager will be part of the IT Solutions Delivery Team.

The IT Solutions Delivery Team helps put Mud Bay’s mission into action by supporting the business applications that allow us to serve our customers every day. The IT Program Manager has direct oversight and ownership of several business applications and contributes to their adoption, stability, and continued success at Mud Bay.


Primary Objectives

Owns and maintains multiple IT programs, initiatives, and business applications that meet Mud Bay’s organizational objectives and goals through:

  • Visioning – Mud Bay’s IT Programs contribute to the organization’s future state through a collaborative strategic visioning approach in which a clearly developed vision informs IT Program goals and outcomes.
  • Planning – Guided by strategic visions, every IT project has a formal project charter with scopes, deliverables, resources, milestones, risks, and budgets created in collaboration with project sponsors and cross-functional teams.
  • Project Delivery – Projects delivered within the program(s) include business/functional/technical requirements, documentation, schedules, project health, change management, budget, delegation, and resources.
  • Resource Management - IT project resources, timelines and budget are delivered within the scope of the project charter.
  • Vendor Relationships – External vendor external vendor relationships, contract renewals, support agreements, integration partners, SLAs, and software licensing are well managed, and vendors have a primary point-of-contact for program-related vendor questions, requests, and ongoing work.
  • Ongoing program ownership – Software applications have perpetual oversight by the IT Program Manager, who leads the identification of enhancements, priorities, and integrations that improve their health, vibrancy, and effectiveness of each application they own.
  • Communication & Change Management – Communications are transparent, accessible, empowering, and engaging tools and tactics to share and bring clarity to project value, status, and feedback channels. Leaders and Stakeholders are up to date on project and program updates. Programs and initiatives have effective communications.
  • Program Advocate - Muddies are encouraged and supported to enlist best practices and process automation when using Mud Bay’s systems. The IT Program Manager supports this through a solid understanding of the system capabilities and limitations and how systems fit into the success of Mud Bay’s business and ongoing growth.

  • 2-5 years of program management, or equivalent, experience; demonstrated success in the management of multi-year programs and projects.
  • Has taken guided project management coursework with instructor-led sessions totaling at least 35 hours of course workload.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate clearly in person, in writing and while working remotely.
  • Outcome-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities; self-motivated, able to work independently, and take initiative.
  • Organized and thorough; follows through; has an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Able to establish clear boundaries/guidelines for project participation (theirs and others'); capable of balancing the needs of the team with their own responsibilities (knows when to take on work, and when to delegate).
  • Outstanding attention to detail with strong time management, project management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Knows when to listen, when to wait, and when to act; builds strong relationships; is highly collaborative, diplomatic, able to graciously nudge individuals when deliverables are needed.
  • Has a robust understanding of Mud Bay business functions, processes, and workflows in relation to the software applications utilized at Mud Bay.
  • Has experience working in Point of Sale, e-Commerce & fulfillment, Financial/HR, or Inventory/Supply Chain systems.
  • Willing to work “off hours” (evenings and weekends) when needed to support application upgrades, updates, and outages during business downtime.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and tools, and proficient at using project management software as needed.
  • Capable of creating quality and accurate documentation as part of project and initiative deliverables.

Job Details

  • Hours and location - The IT Program Manager is a full-time, salaried position at 40 hours per week. The job is Monday – Friday, with rare exceptions in which projects are launching on weekends or systems are experiencing downtime on weekends. This is a hybrid remote work position operating primarily from your home office space and as needed in the field and our corporate office in Olympia, WA.
  • Primary Team- You will be part of the IT Solutions Delivery Team supporting the software Mud Bay uses to run our business.
  • Compensation- Salary range for this role will be between $82,888 and $121,500 annually, depending on skills and experience.
