Alvarado Parkway Institute (API) is San Diego's leading provider of comprehensive mental health and substance abuse care. As a part of our Behavioral Healthcare system, API operates a free-standing 66-bed psychiatric hospital in La Mesa, California with four Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization Programs. These programs emphasize symptom management, community integration, and prevention of hospitalization or re-hospitalization.
The IT/EHR Business Analyst will be the main point of contact for our API family of users for all data reporting needs. You will be working with staff to design, build and deliver various reports and business intelligence dashboards. Our Thrive EHR system will be the primary source of data, but you will be working in MS Access, SQL, Postgres, Power BI among other tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with department leadership to determine reporting needs
  • Design and build reports for staff/end-users in Crystal, MS Access/SQL Report Builder or similar tools
  • Design and build business intelligence dashboards
  • Serve as the expert for accessing and utilizing the EHR Thrive database for reporting needs
  • Design and maintain informational dashboards for business leaders and department heads
  • Work with IT Director to create and maintain database(s) as required
  • Develop project plans/schedules for database reporting and related projects
  • Document all databases, queries and reports in our WiKi or GitHub repositories
  • Must be able to learn new technologies and software platforms
  • Provide IT support to staff as needed

Qualifications:
  • Prefer 1+ years in a report writer role and 1+ years as a database administrator with a heavy emphasis on data extraction and manipulation
  • Experience in report building and dashboard development using SQL Queries and Report Writing Tools
  • Advanced MS Access skills including complex queries, report writing, and automation.
  • PowerShell Scripting experience is a plus
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including experience with ODBC data extraction Experience writing custom VBA functions is a strong plus
  • Ability to work independently and on a team, be flexible and adaptable, ready, willing and able to learn
  • Ability to use discretion, exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Must provide an excellent service-oriented attitude and effectively communicate with a diverse user community at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in a Healthcare/HIPPA/Joint Commission covered organization is preferred
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:
  • Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.

  • Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Lift up to fifteen (15) pounds.
  • Exerting up to twenty (20) pounds.

  • Provide a copy of COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster, OR have an Exemption Request (Deferred Pregnancy, Medical, or Religious) approved by the API HR Director; and those who have an approved Exemption must undergo weekly COVID-19 testing and observe all other infection control requirements, including face coverings.
  • Annual Flu vaccination is required as a condition of hire and ongoing employment. Only those who are allergic to the vaccine or meet contraindications as indicated on the current CDC Vaccine Information Statement shall be exempt from this condition of hire and ongoing employment but are required to wear a mask while inside an API-owned or operated building or vehicle during influenza season, Employees must provide physician documentation to support any reported allergy or contraindication. Flu season typically runs between November and March.
  • Pass drug and alcohol test
  • Clear TB skin test or Chest X-Ray at a Concentra Occupational Health Clinic
  • Complete a satisfactory physical examination at a Concentra Occupational Health Clinic designed solely to determine your ability to perform the duties of the position being offered.
