Duties
As an INSPECTOR GENERAL, GS-1801-12, you will:
- Plan, direct, conduct, and manage all Wing Inspector General (IG) programs.
- Operate and manage the Wing Office of the Inspector General, responsible for overall operation, administration, and management of Wing IG inspections, Complaints Resolution, FWA Program, and Commanders' Inspection Program (CCIP).
- Manage IG programs designed to independently assess and report a unit's readiness, economy, efficiency, effectiveness, and state of discipline to execute assigned missions.
- Provide IG support. Represents the Inspector General office and programs with a variety of wing/center and functional area organizations.
- Assess and revise policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work.

Compatible Military Assignments:
Selectee has one (1) year to obtain required AFSC
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Qualifications
Experience or knowledge in the following:
- Collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
- Utilizing applicable laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Skilled interpersonal communications, empathy, and effective listening
- Ability to write reports and presentations
- Ability to organize thoughts, research materials, and manage case projects
- Skilled in comprehending and interpreting directives and laws
At least 36 months of experience and training in the following:
- Inspector General Program principles and practices related to federal civilian, military, and National Guard, operational, administrative and technical programs
- Conducting investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and regulations.
- Providing policy, guidance, oversight, and directions for the inspection programs; complaints resolution; Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; strategic plans and programs; and the Commander's Inspection Program.
- Revising data collection methods or developing new approaches to analyze and evaluate data.
- Conducting productivity assessments or effectiveness and efficiency program operations
Education
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory. The degree work should include completed academic courses in business management, English grammar and composition, speech, statistics, public administration, human resources administration, organizational development, public administration, behavioral social sciences, and psychology. A graduate degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
